 “Infill drilling timing is critical. However, when timing cannot be controlled as desired, we found the fracture geometry control (FGC) approach helped protect both the parent and child wells. We proved to ourselves that FGC showed measurable improvement in production and pressure decline versus our previous child well iterations. Add with the secondary benefits of decreased pump times and parent/child well improvement, we are a big fan. Fiber optic strain analysis revealed 50% fewer frac hits, higher volume to first response (VFR), and a wider fracture corridor. FGC stages consistently produced more complex fractures. Tien was instrumental in planning, design, execution, and post-job review. Based on these results, the technology is currently used in on-going parent-child operations.”

 Tien at InDZone Consulting was instrumental in the success of a recent project in the DJ Basin. The engineering and subsurface teams were wrestling with a few technical challenges, and Tien was very creative and thoughtful in guiding the team in an effective solution. The first challenge was preventing vertical frac growth into a “wet” interval. The second challenge was preventing negative parent-child interaction in an infill situation. The planning, engineering, and execution went flawlessly. Although results are early, the projects appear to have been highly successful in achieving the desired outcome."

 Part 1:"InDZone Consulting played a critical role in helping us optimize our completions design for our most recent pad. This area has some unique challenges in the basin including high water cuts and H2S in the adjacent formations. Therefore, we needed a design to help mitigate height growth due to the weak shale barriers. The design focused on maximizing the productive net pay by generating complex fractures within the near and mid-field. We are encouraged by the positive pressure trends seen during the fracs, which suggest our fractures are growing in length with controlled height. Tien’s expertise and direct involvement in the engineering design and execution support with our field team have been invaluable. We look forward to seeing the wells’ performance unfold!"

 Part 2: “Now that our wells are online, we are very pleased with their performance. They are delivering strong oil production, relatively high intake pressures, and the water cuts are on the low side for the field.   “Our recent studies indicated that the likely mechanism of H2S occurrence in Bakken producing wells is migration from stratigraphically adjacent sour formations through fracture networks created by out-of-zone well stimulation. InDZone provided our research team with guidance on completion computer stimulation to evaluate the factors that control horizontal and vertical fracture propagation. The results of simulation work will help to evaluate reservoir communication, optimize the completion design and reduce the risk of souring.”
